17th October

I was surprised that there was little to no Woodpigeon movement today, and disappointed to find out that there had been some movement of Woodpigeon and Redwing elsewhere in the Falmouth area, but oh well, got to keep trying! Not much about today but some movement from the usual suspects.

Combined overhead totals from the obs and Maenporth included; 182 Meadow Pipit, 43 Woodpigeon, 36 Linnet, 34 Skylark, 21 Chaffinch, 15 Pied Wagtail, and singles of Grey Wagtail and Siskin.
The majority of migrating birds, but particularly Meadow Pipits, were moving north today - relocating after likely overshooting their wintering ground.

Maenporth - observations of some note included 3 Goldcrest, 2 Firecrest, 2 Chiffchaff, 2 Bullfinch, and a Curlew from the coastal path, 1 Grey Heron on the rocks in Bream Cove, and a 1w Mediterranean Gull and the Little Egret on the lagoon.

Mawnan Smith - 1 Sparrowhawk, 2+ Buzzard, singles of Song Thrush and Great Spotted Woodpecker, and a late Hummingbird Hawkmoth flying about in the evening.
